About

Our Story

With roots dating back to the early 1980s, Good Shepherd Christian School was established by dedicated members of Good Shepherd Baptist Church who sought to create a supportive learning community rooted in Biblical principles and truth. Our school's curriculum adheres to the standards set by the Australian Curriculum, incorporating a Biblical worldview to provide students with a well-rounded education that emphasises both academic excellence and spiritual growth.

As we look towards the future, we place our trust in God to guide and shape our school into a centre of academic excellence and innovative learning. Our goal is to equip future generations with the tools they need for success and service in their communities.

Join us on this journey of faith, education, and growth at Good Shepherd Christian School where together we 'Flourish!'

Together We Flourish

Our commitment to flourishing encompasses both the emotional well-being and academic success of each student, with a focus on creating a nurturing and supportive environment where students can thrive. We believe that true flourishing goes beyond simply feeling good to also encompass doing good in the world.

The strength of Good Shepherd Christian School has always been its faith-based and prayer-filled community that believes, according to scripture, that everyone is created with a plan and a purpose. Each child's unique gifts and talents are treasured and nurtured by teachers and staff.

Our goal is to empower students to not only succeed academically but also to make a positive impact on the world around them.

We acknowledge parents as their children's first teachers and desire to complement the vital role of parents by providing a school environment that is safe, inclusive, considerate, and encouraging, where children’s agency and well-being are promoted within a whole school approach and a sense of belonging is evident.

It is essential to recognise that the education of young people is a shared responsibility where all stakeholders must be committed to the vision of equipping young lives for the future.

Through our collaborative approach to education, we aim to instil in students a sense of responsibility and accountability for their own learning, while also fostering a strong sense of community and support. We believe that by working together with students, parents, and staff, we can create a learning environment where every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential and flourish.

Arising from our concept of nurturing firm foundations where students grow and develop in a healthy Christ-centred way within an environment where everyone is welcome, seen and given importance, are eight strategic priorities, each reflecting the desired strengths of the school.

School Structure

Four distinct sub-schools exist to contribute to a more engaging, supportive, and effective educational environment that promotes student success and well-being at all year levels from Prep to Year Twelve.  The school is structured into Preparatory, Primary School, Middle School and Senior School. By embracing this model, the school will maintain and achieve substantial growth ensuring optimum use of resources, facilities and the provision of innovative and effective educational programmes to achieve optimal student learning outcomes.

Academic Excellence

To comprehensively cater to students' academic needs, the school has adopted a whole-school approach, ensuring continuity across all year levels and providing a seamless curriculum. While nurturing a supportive environment, the school's commitment to academic excellence prepares students for a smooth transition from primary to secondary school and beyond. By fostering a peaceful and supportive atmosphere, the school provides an optimal setting for students to flourish.

Small Classroom Sizes

To further enhance student learning and achievement, the school maintains small classroom sizes, of a maximum of 24 students per class. This enables individualised attention for every student. This approach ensures that educators can address the unique needs and learning styles of each individual, fostering an environment where all students can thrive and succeed academically. By providing ample opportunities for personalized instruction and support, the school cultivates an inclusive atmosphere where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.

Holistic Education

In addition to prioritising academic success, the school is committed to a holistic education approach, recognising the importance of addressing students' academic, social-emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. Through a range of support services and programs, the school provides a nurturing environment where students can seek assistance for any social, emotional, and spiritual development needs they may have. By focusing on the holistic development of each student, the school ensures that they not only excel academically but also grow into well-rounded individuals equipped with the skills and resilience needed for servant leadership and success in all aspects of life.
