Our Values

At Good Shepherd Christian School, we are deeply committed to instilling Biblical principles into every aspect of our educational approach. Our school community is founded on the belief that each student deserves a nurturing and supportive environment to thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually. Through a steadfast focus on Christian teachings and values, we endeavour to cultivate the whole child, equipping them to embody compassion, responsibility, and ethics in all aspects of life. Our guiding values, encapsulated by the 5 Rs - Relationship, Respect, Responsibility, Readiness, Reasoning - serve as the cornerstone of our efforts to prepare students to become conscientious and contributing members of society.

Relationship

At GSCS, we value building personal relationships with God through prayer, Bible study, and worship, guiding our thoughts, words, and actions. We also promote cultivating compassionate and loving relationships with peers, treating others with kindness, empathy, and respect, and fostering unity and cooperation among classmates.

"Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another." Romans 12:10

Readiness

We encourage students to approach academic tasks with a readiness to learn, demonstrating attentiveness, curiosity, and a willingness to actively participate in classroom activities. We emphasise giving our best effort in all situations, showing a strong work ethic, and a desire for personal growth and improvement.

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men." Colossians 3:23

Reasoning

Critical thinking skills are developed through analysing information and evaluating ideas in light of biblical principles at GSCS. Students learn to understand the reasons behind their beliefs and choices, articulating thoughts with clarity and logical reasoning. They actively participate in discussions, asking thoughtful questions, offering well-reasoned arguments, and engaging in problem-solving activities on the playground.

"For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding." Proverbs 2:6

Responsibility

Taking responsibility for their own learning is encouraged at GSCS, acknowledging when assistance is needed and actively seeking help from teachers or peers. Students demonstrate accountability for their actions, taking ownership of mistakes, and learning from them. On the playground, students take responsibility for their behaviour, following rules, and showing respect for the well-being of themselves and others.

"For every man shall bear his own burden." Galatians 6:5

Respect

At GSCS, we show respect for God by honouring Him in our thoughts, words, and actions, and treating others with dignity and kindness. Respecting oneself by making healthy choices and taking care of physical and emotional well-being is important. In the classroom and on the playground, students demonstrate respect for teachers, peers, and the environment, showing good manners, listening attentively, using positive language, and caring for equipment and facilities.

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12
