School Governance

Good Shepherd Christian School operates under the governance of its governing body, Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Good Shepherd Baptist Church Pty Ltd appoints Directors for the purpose of oversight and governance.

Board of Directors

The Directors of Good Shepherd Baptist Church also serve as the Directors of Good Shepherd Christian School. Each Director must have been a member of GSBC for a minimum of 3 years prior to being appointed, and each Director must remain in good moral standing with the membership of GSBC.

Directors are appointed by the membership of Good Shepherd Baptist Church for a 3 year term, at which point they are eligible for reappointment. All Directors serve on a voluntary basis and are responsible for the governance of Good Shepherd Christian School.

Governance matters include the appointing of the School Principal, strategic direction of the school, authorising of financial controls and loans, legal framework and completion of government required data.

School Advisory Committee

In addition to the Board of Directors, in 2008 a ‘School Advisory Committee’ was appointed to assist the governing body in matters of school governance. The School Advisory Committee exists to advise the Board of Directors on matters of school policy.

Their input centres on areas of educational governance, upholding the school’s values, and providing practical links between GSCS and other learning institutions. To ensure the effectiveness of the School Advisory Committee, we seek a diversity of people whose range of skills, qualifications and experience enhance our ability to provide a balanced school environment.

Each member of the School Advisory Committee is required to be a member of GSBC and in good standing with the church membership. As with the Directors, each member of the School Advisory Committee serves in a voluntary capacity.
