Board Report

What a joy it is to serve our Great God and Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. As each year passes, I personally
am more grateful to the Lord for the ministry of Good Shepherd Christian School and the role it plays
in the lives of so many. All Praise to Him and all thanks to our Lord Jesus for sustaining us and providing
for us in 2017.

With the implementation of the mandatory Australian Curriculum and the current political and spiritual
climate of Australia, some of the most critical challenges we have been/are facing as a school centre on
delivering a Christ-centred approach scholastically and socially in our school. I thank God for our
committed Board Members, staff, parents and members of the school community who have all played
a part in helping us with this goal.

Good Shepherd Christian School exists to proclaim the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to develop
Christ in the lives of students as they prepare for this life and for eternity. Being Christ-centred is more
than just mentioning statements like ‘focus’ or ‘ethos’, it comes down to integrating the Lord Jesus into
everything we do. In a day of spiritual departure away from Christ in our community this is more
important than ever. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Principal Mrs Rhonda Davis, and
the curriculum development team who have worked so hard this year to ensure we have a fully
developed and integrated, school-wide, Christ-centred approach to curriculum. As a parent, your work
gives me great comfort, and as a governanc administrator it gives me great confidence that we are
providing a truly Christian education.

I would also like to thank our Principal, Rhonda Davis who has overseen so many crucial endeavours this
year including; the installation of temporary class room blocks to allow for growth, the rollout of new I.T.
infrastructure, the integration of new curriculum plans, the development of the school in our broader
community, and multiple day to day operational factors that have helped make our school a wonderful
community. We thank the Lord for Rhonda and we pray for His increased blessing upon her.

In addition, to Rhonda’s leadership in the school, I would like to thank our teaching staff for your hard
work in 2017. It seems with each passing year, the demands put on teachers only increase. I am so
thankful to you all for the passion, commitment, humility, persistence and Christ-likeness you have
displayed throughout 2017. It is a joy to watch a team of teachers who lovingly care for their students,
pursue what is best for their students. I pray the Lord will give you a refreshing break and that you will
return in 2018 with the zeal and confidence the Lord gives you as you serve Him.

Once more I would also take time to mention the work of our School Board throughout 2017. Behind
the scenes the Board has been working with our Principal to ensure the rollout of major projects that
are due for building and completion in 2018, as well as the development and implementation of
long-term curriculum goals. Our Board is made up of volunteers who graciously give their time and
expertise to seek the Lord’s best for our school, and again I thank you all for what you have done in 2017.
